The future is looking bright with a new school from the Thomas Telford Multi Academy Trust. Following a new collaboration with Thomas Telford School, we opened our doors to our first cohort of Year 7 students in September 2020. Students have excelled at the UTC and we believe the strength of both schools unites us to offer students a truly ground-breaking opportunity and has resulted in the UTC achieving some of the best examination outcomes in the city.

Equally, Ofsted has praised Thomas Telford UTC noting that: “An overwhelming sense of community and mutual respect greets you as you arrive at this school. Relationships between pupils and staff are supportive, caring and focused on pupils achieving their potential. “The school prioritises pupils’ personal development exceptionally well. They receive an extensive range of employment, cultural and leadership experiences. This includes mentoring and employment placements across all year groups. In addition, many pupils regularly take part in a range of clubs, such as myth mania and film club. These opportunities enhance their wider experiences effectively.”
Thomas Telford UTC prides itself on offering a:
- Broad and balanced curriculum
- Placing a strong emphasis on STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Maths)
- Superb learning environment with state-of-the-art facilities
- Excellent enrichment opportunities
- First-class employer engagement
- Unrivalled academic and technical education
