As parents and carers, we all want the same for our children – to see them happy, safe, and supported as they grow. But when the school day ends, the hours until bedtime can often be tricky. For many families, the hours after school can be a juggle – with parents rushing to drive children from one club to another, or young people left at home in front of a screen, or with nowhere safe to meet up with their friends. That’s where The Way Youth Zone makes a real difference. We’re accessible, affordable, and open to all – a welcoming space where every young person feels they belong.

Based in Wolverhampton, The Way is a safe, welcoming space for young people aged 8–18, open every weekday evening, all year round. For just £5 a year and 50p per visit, it offers a wide variety of opportunities and activities that give young people independence in a supportive environment. For Amber, a bright and bubbly 12-year-old, coming to The Way has been life-changing. “I used to be the shyest person on earth,” Amber admitted. Making friends was daunting, but Junior sessions transformed her confidence. “Now, I’ve made tons of friends. It’s helped me so much – my confidence has grown so much!” she beamed. Amber has tried new sports, discovered a love for climbing, explored her creative side, and learned to cook in the training kitchen. Most importantly, she’s found a place where she feels excited, confident, and connected.
And Amber isn’t alone. Every visit to The Way gives young people access to over 20 activities each evening – from sports and a climbing wall, to arts and crafts, music, games and cooking. Whether they’re active, creative, or just want somewhere to relax with friends, there’s something for everyone. To make sure young people are fuelled for the evening ahead of them, they can have a free hot meal in our fantastic cafe.

At the heart of The Way are our professional youth workers – trusted adults who are there to listen, encourage, and guide. They help young people build confidence, resilience and important life skills, while making sure they always feel welcome and supported. For parents and carers, The Way also brings peace of mind. You can feel reassured knowing your child is spending their evenings somewhere safe and positive – rather than in front of a screen or out on the streets.
Every child is different, which is why The Way offers so much choice. With state-of-the-art facilities, dedicated staff, and an inclusive atmosphere, The Way really is unique – and it’s right on your doorstep. Find out more at: www.thewayyouthzone.org. Because after school shouldn’t just be about passing time – it should be a chance to thrive.
