A leading educational trust in Shropshire is entering an exciting new chapter, with changes across its all-through schools set to deliver further growth and opportunity. In September, The Old Hall School in Wellington will become Wrekin Prep (4–11), strengthening ties with Wrekin College (11–18). Both schools share the same campus and belong to the same trust. Executive Head, Mr Toby Spence, said the rebrand marks a natural progression that celebrates the strengths of the all-through model. “We are proud of our heritage and excited to evolve. This change supports our commitment to delivering excellent education and a supportive community for families,” he said.

Craig Williams, currently Head of Abingdon Prep School in Oxford, will join as Head of Wrekin Prep in January 2026. He said: “I’m delighted to be joining such a forward-thinking trust and look forward to getting to know the Wrekin Prep community.” The changes have already generated significant interest, with a strong September intake. Open days and campus tours have been well attended, reflecting confidence in the schools’ joined-up vision. The partnership enables shared investment, stability, and innovation – benefiting pupils with excellent facilities including a Business School, Music School, Dance Studio and all-weather pitches.

Academic and co-curricular success continues across both schools, with accolades in music, sport, and individual achievements. “We know families want more than good exam results,” said Mr Spence. “They want a bespoke education that builds confident, independent learners ready for the world beyond the classroom. That’s what we offer.”
