CALM ASPIRATIONAL RESPECTFUL ENGAGED

St Edmund’s Catholic Academy

RETURNING to St Edmund’s in September will be particularly exciting this year. Principal Mrs Hazeldine said: “After the challenges and changes brought on by Covid, we are thrilled to open up our school to all year groups who once again, will be able to enjoy all of the wonderful facilities on offer.”

This year St Edmund’s will be expanding its provision even further, with four additional classrooms, two new science labs, new sports changing facilities, a brand new gym and outdoor table tennis and basketball hoops, a university-style lecture theatre for sixth formers and a huge contemporary dining room and social meeting place.

Work will be starting this summer and will be all completed for March 2022, ready for new intake in September 2022. Mrs Hazeldine is particularly proud of the number of families now selecting St Edmund’s as their first choice for secondary education. She believes this is a testament to excellent teaching coupled with strong pastoral support, ensuring all students feel safe and know success.

She added: “We welcome students from all faiths and from none to share in our academic and spiritual journey. St Edmund’s is a truly diverse community celebrating 40 languages with a real sense of family values underpinning our work.

There is a calm, purposeful manner in the building, one of high expectations where no one is left behind.” St Edmund’s has an ethos of respecting all within its community and encouraging pupils to aspire to achieve their best and engage in all aspects of school life.

The academy’s mission is one of love; service; forgiveness and this is what characterises a St Edmund’s student.

Mrs Hazeldine adds: “At our heart, we work together and we care about each other – promoting kindness, good manners and hard work.

“Our curriculum is designed to ensure all students can succeed, whilst being stretched and challenged to think for themselves and respect the thoughts and values of others.

“In short we are preparing our young people to thrive in the 21st century: in their work, in their relationships, in their faith.”
