Returning to St Edmund’s has been especially exciting this September.
“We have missed our pupils so much during the lockdown,” says Principal Mrs Hazeldine. “And we’re delighted to see them all looking so happy and smart and ready to learn. Our excellent online curriculum has ensured all students have continued to thrive at home and we will continue to make full use of technology at St Edmund’s to ensure our young people are fully prepared for the excitement and challenges of the 21st century.”
Mrs Hazeldine is particularly proud of the number of families now selecting St Edmund’s as their first choice for secondary education. She believes this is a testament to excellent teaching coupled with strong pastoral support, ensuring all students know success.
Students feel safe at St Edmund’s and they are happy in their academic studies as well as enjoying a fantastic range of clubs, trips and visits.
“We welcome students from all faiths and from none to share in our academic and spiritual journey. St Edmund’s is a truly diverse community celebrating 40 languages with a real sense of family values underpinning our work. There is a calm, purposeful manner in the building, one of high expectations where no one is left behind.”
St Edmund’s has an ethos of respecting all within its community and encouraging pupils to aspire to achieve their best and engage in all aspects of school life. The academy’s mission is one of love; service; forgiveness and this is what characterises a St Edmund’s student.
Mrs Hazeldine adds: “At our heart, we work together and we care about each other – promoting kindness, good manners and hard work.
“Our curriculum is designed to ensure all students can succeed, whilst being stretched and challenged to think for themselves and respect the thoughts and values of others.
“In short we are preparing our young people to thrive in the 21st century: in their work, in their relationships, in their faith.” Full admissions and virtual open day information can be found on the school website www.stedmunds.org
