In the current educational climate, it is all too easy for schools to become almost solely driven by attainment at all costs. The family of staff at Ormiston NEW Academy believe that schools must focus firstly on ensuring that all students feel nurtured and cared for; once this is in place without exception – attainment will follow!
Ormiston NEW Academy understands that choosing the right secondary school can be a worrying time for both students and parents. The aim of staff is simple.
They want every child to feel happy and excited about coming to school and leave there with a first class education.
The Academy prides itself on ensuring staff support families in making an informed choice and offer a supportive transition package to those students making that big move from primary to secondary school.
The Academy promotes high standards of learning through positive recognition, and in return, expect the highest standards from the students; central to this is the academy’s successful House and rewards system.

The Academy’s extra-curricular provision is growing all the time, enabling students to experience opportunities above and beyond the classroom provision.
Staff strive to enrich students’ lives through a wealth of cultural experiences beyond the classroom.
Mr Farr, Principal, said: “Our number one aim is to provide a safe, vibrant, compassionate and exciting environment for students to learn.
“We believe everyone should be treated with care and respect and central to this is our family ethos. We make every effort to provide the best possible pastoral support to ensure the students’ welfare is always a top priority.
“Ormiston NEW Academy students are expected to do their best at all times, to be determined to succeed and not to give up.
“Our students must be persistent in their pursuit of excellence, through determination, resilience and grit.
The curriculum is enriched by a fully comprehensive programme of Careers Education and guidance throughout the students’ lifetime at the Academy, preparing them for success in later life.
“We want Ormiston NEW Academy to provide a rigorous, academic and challenging curriculum to help our students succeed in a competitive world of work.
“We take pride in providing challenges and opportunities to ensure students are engaged in their learning and to inspire students to achieve their potential.
“We believe that knowledge is power, so our curriculum is rich in deep learning activities and exposes students to the best that has been written, thought and created.”
Students at Ormiston NEW Academy have the opportunity to continue their education journey by progressing to the academy’s Sixth Form, which continues to grow and develop.
