Education is at the heart of everything we do at The New Art Gallery Walsall. The New Art Gallery is a place for everyone, bringing art, artists and audiences together in an internationally famous world-class gallery with a local heart.
Our education programme promotes the use of visual arts as an educational tool to inspire, excite, and develop skills, knowledge and understanding with a wide range of activities and events for diverse audiences including schools, colleges, universities, families and community groups.
Visiting an art gallery helps pupils with varied learning preferences, develop confidence in themselves and deal with the world around them. Our programme offers school pupils inspiration from world-class art displays, providing stimuli for cross curricular learning, developing communication skills, problem solving, critical and contextual studies and creative thinking.
We offer a range of support for visiting groups:
Whether its specific support as discussions notes and practical activities at different areas around the gallery; introductory talks about the gallery’s collections or exhibitions; practical workshops on a range of printing techniques or sculpture techniques that can be created on the subject matter of your choice inspired by the gallery displays; self-guided visits using our resources for group visits or taking advantage of our free talks or our paid taught sessions for groups at nursery, primary, secondary or special needs level, sessions all bookable at your convenience, the Gallery’s education team can offer advice and support to your group to get the most out of your visit.
