The benefits of small class sizes at Lichfield Cathedral School have been repeatedly proven through both academic research and pupil outcomes.
Teachers have more one-to-one time with each pupil, getting to know them better and providing individual attention and specific feedback.
A spokesman for the school said: “This is critical for the development of skills and for building a supportive
rapport between the teacher and the pupil.
It also means that no-one is left behind as it is easier for teachers to identify when a child is struggling and provide targeted support.

“In a small class the teacher can ensure everyone participates – there’s nowhere to hide! In larger classes, pupils can get easily distracted or disengage from the content of the lesson; similarly, shy children or those lacking in confidence can find it difficult to speak up.
“Smaller classes are quieter and foster a more informal, relaxed atmosphere providing the encouragement pupils need to participate and have a voice.”
