SCHOOL NURTURES SKILLS WHICH WILL STAND THE GIRLS INGOOD STEAD FOR LIFE

Al-Burhan Grammar School

Founded in September 2002 with the mission to be “dedicated to learning as it is the foundation for life”, we have a reputation for excellent academic achievement, delivering both the National Curriculum and aspects of Islamic education.

Al-Burhan was graded “Outstanding” by Ofsted for the third time in March 2018, graded outstanding in all categories.

  • Academically outstanding… We try to inspire a love of learning in our girls and a desire to improve academically. Developing a proactive and positive attitude to learning is key for us. Inspectors noted consistent evidence of this ethos.

Al-Burhan Grammar School pupils, staff and parents are celebrating excellent GCSE results again this year. Many of the pupils achieve grade 7-9 in their GCSE examinations including English and Mathematics. The GCSE pass rate (grade 9 – 4) and higher pass rate (grade 9 – 5) are both 100 per cent this year again which means all students achieved five or more GCSEs at grades 9 – 5 including English and Maths.

Masha Allah, our top pupil, achieved 12 A/A* (grade 7-9), with five grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French and Mathematics, four grade 8s in English Language, English Literature, Religious Studies and Computer Science, two grade 7s in History and Art & Design, and one A* in Arabic.

Ofsted noted in March 2018: “Leaders have the highest aspirations for all pupils. Teaching across every subject and every year group is of the highest quality. Teachers respond to pupils’ learning rapidly.”

  • Growth and development…. Our girls are not simply students. They are future members of our society, and will one day take their place in the wider community, so we also nurture skills which will stand our girls in good stead for life.

Ofsted reported: “Pupils’ personal, social and emotional development is exceptionally well supported. Pupils are confident and self-assured.” Ofsted noted that “pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and understanding of fundamental British values are excellent. Respect, tolerance and acceptance are actively promoted”.

We invite you to witness this firsthand by visiting the school for a tour. The Entrance Test for September 2021 entry will be on December 5, 2020.
