Everyone who works at Wolverley CE Secondary is passionate about helping students to learn and develop into responsible and well-rounded individuals.
Bryn Thomas, Headteacher, said: “We place this goal at the heart of our drive for excellence. We challenge our students daily to raise their aspirations to achieve more than they believe that they can.
“Our school motto is ‘Ambition Unlimited’; our ambition for both the school itself and everyone who walks
through its doors knows no bounds.
Students love being here and are proud of their school.
“We are committed to maximising the potential of all our students by providing them with a wide range of opportunities to prepare them for the next step in their educational journey.
“We want our students to have the highest of aspirations for themselves and to achieve them.
“Our curriculum is varied, broad and challenging with extensive opportunities for students to excel both inside and outside of the classroom.
“We firmly believe that the parent school partnership is incredibly important and seek to build and strengthen our relationship with you.
“We pride ourselves on the support we offer every student. We are caring, happy and inclusive with a strong focus on rewards.”
Transition to secondary school
“We are confident that our all-encompassing transition programme, unique location, extensive facilities and caring staff will ensure students make the best possible start to their time at Wolverley.
The programme is an exciting combination of lessons in new subjects, experience of life in a secondary school and a chance to enjoy the ski slope, animal care centre and our outdoor education facilities.
In September, Year 7 complete an overnight camp with barbecue, campfire, music and games in our stunning school grounds.
“It is free of charge and attended by all new students. The camp is incredibly popular as it helps to forge friendships between students and build positive relationships with staff that last throughout their time here.
Caring and nurturing
“We pride ourselves on the support we offer every student. We are caring, happy and inclusive with a strong focus on rewards. We believe that when a student feels positive and confident about themselves they can flourish in the classroom and get the best grades possible.
Parents tell us our pastoral support team and College system are a real strength and are central to our personalised approach with every student.
Teaching and learning
“We believe that every student should thrive and enjoy high quality lessons.
Varied teaching and learning strategies, engaging styles and creative approaches within the classroom ensure that students access the curriculum regardless of
their ability, prior attainment or learning style.
Outstanding teaching with high expectations, challenge, inspiration and active learning ensures students achieve their full potential.”
Mr Thomas added: “Enrichment helps students to develop their interests and abilities, provides valuable learning experiences outside their studies and promotes independence, interpersonal skills and leadership.
We offer a comprehensive range of clubs, activities and teams with ‘something for everyone’ at lunchtime, before or after school.
“Trips, visits, the arts and sport along with the creative use of our wonderful facilities and grounds bring learning to life as we aim to develop well-rounded, cultured and active young people.”
