THE ROYAL SCHOOL OPENED AS A FREE SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER, 2016, AND WHAT AN AMAZING FIRST YEAR IT HAS HAD...

The Royal School Wolverhampton

The year got off to an excellent start with new, talented youngsters joining existing happy and successful pupils.

A school spokesman said: “There has been a real ‘buzz’ around the corridors and classrooms with excited chatter and engaging lessons taking place.

“Pupils love the community atmosphere, thanks to the vertical house and tutor group structure and have fun while learning.

The Royal is a small, cohesive community with a friendly atmosphere for boarders and day pupils alike.

The strong academic tradition is based upon individual attention and encouragement, as well as excellent pastoral care rooted in respect, tolerance and understanding of others.

The Royal combines traditional values with a modern outlook and a ‘real-world’ attitude.

“We aim for excellence in sport with opportunities for all pupils to develop outside the classroom.

There is every chance to represent the school in a wide range of sports including netball, hockey, rounders and basketball for girls and basketball, football, cricket and more recently rugby for boys.

While after school activities at The Royal are mandatory for Years 7 -11 with students staying Monday through Thursday until 4:45pm to develop character and leadership skills.

“There is an excellent range of activities to choose from (more than 50 different activities each term across the school) and clear enjoyment and challenge in Duke of Edinburgh award and CCF and the other, eclectic range of opportunities.

“The Royal School Wolverhampton was founded in 1850 as an orphanage, becoming a school shortly after in recognition of the power of education to transform young people’s lives.

It is a fully co-educational, independent day and boarding school that opened as a Free School in September, 2016.

As a State Boarding School, British and EEA boarding students receive free day tuition, paying only the yearly boarding fees of £11,150 making the school very attractive to families wanting an independent boarding environment for their children.”
