St Edmund’s Catholic Academy, part of Bishop Cleary Catholic Multi Academy Company, have recently had cause for celebration.
Principal, Maggie Hughes, said: “It seems hard to believe that we moved to our new surroundings on Compton Park four years ago, which was also the anniversary of our transition to Academy status.
“I am proud to be associated with St Bernadette’s Catholic School, St Christopher’s Catholic School, SS Mary and John Catholic Academy, St Michael’s Catholic Academy, SS Peter and Paul’s Catholic Academy and St Teresa’s Catholic Academy as we move forward on our journey to provide the best possible education for students in the city.”
St Edmund’s was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in March 2016 who commented that students were “well behaved and a credit to St Edmund’s Catholic community” as well as commenting that the academy had “a culture of high expectations for achievement, exemplary behaviour and a strong community spirit with students who are well turned out and show pride in themselves and in the academy”.
Many families chose St Edmund’s as their first choice and the academy has been full and over subscribed for many years.
The progressive Sixth Form continues to grow with an intake of 160 – which is the biggest Sixth Form St Edmund’s has ever had.
St Edmund’s opens its doors to visitors and prospective Year 7 students on Thursday, October 12, from 6pm to 8pm when they can experience a taste of the St Edmund’s learning environment and see the caring and nurturing Catholic atmosphere that they share.
For those interested in the Sixth Form, the Year 11 into 12 Information Evening takes place on Tuesday, November 14.
