IT’S A NEW ERA FOR LEARNING AND ACHIEVEMENT AT TELFORD LANGLEY SCHOOL AND THE TELFORD PARK SCHOOL.

Adams’ Grammar School

Introducing families to a more affordable boarding option at a state grammar school...

State boarding schools regularly out-perform other schools around the country and yet they are still unheard of by many.

So what is a state boarding school? Gary Hickey, Headmaster of Adams’ Grammar School in Newport, explains: “A state boarding school is one where you pay for the boarding while
the government pays for the education, as it would at any other state school in England.

In other words, the education is free making boarding a much more affordable option for families.

“Parents pay around £11,000 a year to board at Adams’ compared to fees as high as £40,000 at non-state boarding schools.

There are 38 state boarding schools in the UK and a handful of these are selective.

These schools regularly top academic league tables around the country.

Gary adds: “80% of our A-level students achieved A*- B grades last year with 42 pupils achieving 3 or more passes at A*-A.”

The majority of boarders join state boarding schools at the age of 11 and continue boarding until they leave school for university.

A few may join at 13+ if spaces are available and some join boarding in the Sixth Form, recognising boarding as the perfect introduction to living and studying away from home.
